RECESSIONAL
O say can you see,
by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d
at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes
and bright stars
through the perilous fight
O’er the ramparts
we watch’d were so
gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare,
the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night
that our flag was still there,
O say does that
star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free
and the home of the brave?

Clara Baldwin
Clara is a proud Class of 2007 CSD Fremont graduate whose journey has been guided by Bay Area’s strong, robust, and rich Deaf community. From her time at Gallaudet University—where she served as the Legislative Outreach Intern for the National Council on Disability—to her current role as Assistant Special Education Director for the Anchorage School District, Clara has focused on advocacy work, advocating for Deaf and hard of hearing students in Alaska.
Her experience spans across education roles as a paraeducator, substitute teacher, classroom teacher, and now a district leader. In 2024, she delivered a TEDx talk in Anchorage. She currently serves as the Chair of the Alaska Deaf Council’s Deaf Education & Outreach Committee, playing a key role in legislative efforts to improve Deaf education across Alaska.
Clara returns to CSD Fremont not just as a successful alumni, but as a passionate changemaker dedicated to showing Deaf youth that leadership, pride, and success are within their reach. Clara looks forward to sharing some perspective of how important it is to be uncomfortable, and to consider perception from all angles to the Class of 2025!

Soaring Eagle is a powerful ASL poetry piece that captures the journey of a Deaf student at California School for the Deaf - from the first day of uncertainty to the triumphant moment of graduation. Through the metaphor of the Eagle, our school mascot, this visual poem illustrates the growth, resilience, and pride that come from being embraced by a community where language and identity take flight. Witness the transformation of hands that once trembled into wing that soar.
A cherished tradition, the Class Fight Song is performed by the Eagle Fight Song Team as a culminating moment of the graduation ceremony. With pride and precision, the team embodies the spirit, unity, and journey of their graduating class, incorporating class colors, mascot, and motto into a dynamic and heartfelt display. This spirited performance serves as a final tribute to their shared accomplishments and a lasting symbol of class pride.
